Disney Plus Review: You won’t be blown away when you first turn on Disney Plus. Disney Plus is a boring copy of Netflix, unlike Kayo Sports, which came out with many unique and forward-thinking features, or Apple TV+, which had that unique Apple feel. Even though there’s nothing wrong with it, it would have been great to see some new ideas.
Horizontal EPGs are broken up into categories and “trending search” filters. Featured content boxes are sometimes used to break up the lines of EPGs. You can choose from Disney, Star Wars, Marvel, National Geographic, Pixar, and Star or go straight to Kids mode. Everything can be downloaded for use when you’re not online.
When it comes to features, Disney checks off almost all of the expected boxes. Several movies and TV shows also let you watch them offline and support 4K, Dolby Atmos, and Dolby Vision. This is true for newer movies, but the 4K Disney Plus list also had some surprises from the past, like Star Wars.
Family sharing for up to seven accounts and four streams simultaneously reveals the main features. At launch, the only obvious flaw was the lack of a “continue watching” service. It was a big mistake, but Disney finally fixed it and made two other improvements simultaneously. Also, the GroupWatch feature was a nice addition.
Compared to Netflix’s $4K premium plan, which costs $22.99 a month, Disney Plus stands out because it gives you everything for just $11.99 a month. Also, it does better than Stan ($19 per month) and BINGE ($18 per month for 4 streams, but no 4K). Disney Plus also has better content than Apple TV+, which costs $7.99 monthly. Only Prime Video, which costs $6.99 a month, has a similar selection of movies and TV shows at a lower price.
If you’re sure you’ll love the service, you can get Disney Plus for $119.99 per year, up to $10 per month.
Also worth praising is the number of devices that can be used. It covers everything from mobile devices to gaming consoles, including smart TVs, PCs and Macs, iOS, Android, Windows 10 and 11, Apple TV, Android TV, Telstra TV, Amazon Fire, Chromecast, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. (LG, Samsung, Panasonic, Hisense). Good work.

Disney Plus seems like the first real competitor to Netflix in the streaming TV market because of its size and importance worldwide.
This wasn’t the case at first. Netflix had made a name for itself as the place to go for sophisticated, if not adult-focused, original content. On the other hand, Disney was a family-oriented business that mostly relied on its past successes. It was a perfect place for kids because there was just enough content for different age groups to keep parents and fanboys (or fangirls) talking to each other.
Fair enough, but Disney Plus didn’t have anything special to offer when it first came out. The Mandalorian was a really good live-action Star Wars show. It’s a must-see for Star Wars fans and a good place to start for people who have avoided Wookiees for the past 40 years.
Other launch exclusives included movies like Lady and the Tramp and Noelle, documentaries like Marvel Hero Project, comedies like High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and a Jeff Goldblum mystery, but they needed to add more sense of urgency.
This has changed a lot from now until 2020, especially around 2021. Every month, new TV shows, documentaries, and high-profile movies like Soul, Luca, Hamilton, and The One and Only Ivan are added. Older media is easier to find, like the first episodes of popular TV shows like The Simpsons and movies like Avatar and the eight X-Men movies.
Late in 2021, The Book of Boba Fett came out, while kid-friendly shows like Muppets Now kept kids glued to the screen. In 2021, there were 5 new TV shows just for Marvel fans.
But since the Star channel came out, most worries about the Disney Plus content have disappeared. When it came out on February 23, 2021, it made Disney Plus more than just a streaming service for kids. It now has hundreds of movies and TV shows for adults.
This includes brand-new Star Originals shows like Dopesick and Only Murders in the Building that can only be seen on Disney Plus. You can also watch the most recent seasons of shows like Family Guy, Scrubs, How I Met Your Mother, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as well as fan favorites like Lost, Scrubs, and How I Met Your Mother.
Disney Plus is a good way to get into the Disney content library at an affordable price. Its collection of classics goes back to the 1930s, but after a slow start, it is expected to grow thanks to a steady stream of new exclusives until 2022 and beyond.
When I first wrote this review, I said, “You shouldn’t feel like you have to sign up for Disney Plus right away if you’re not a huge Star Wars fan looking forward to The Mandalorian or a parent with kids who need holiday entertainment.” But I now see things differently. Disney Plus is now a service everyone can use because the Star channel has a lot of adult content, and the quality of the original shows is high overall.
If you compare Disney Plus to Netflix or Amazon Prime, it still needs new, original content. But it’s getting better. Even if you’ve seen the same content ten times, it’s easy to watch it again.
You will get a lot for your money with Disney Plus, but you might need more to stop using some of your other services.
